PRELAB QUESTIONS: (to be turned in upon arriving at lab)

1. Read Giancoli sections 23.7 and 23.8 thoroughly.

2. Read the lab instructions thoroughly.

3. What is the definition of the focal length of a converging lens? Illustrate your answer with a diagram on the submission copy you will hand in.

4. Consider a focal length of f=20.0cm which is used to image an object a distance do=40.0cm away. At which distance di do you expect to find the image?

5. What is a collimated beam? How could you produce one? (Say it briefly in words here, and draw a sketch on the submission copy you hand in)
