Inaugural Colorado Sustainable Energy Forum
Date: Monday, April 25
Time: 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Location: Adam's Mark Hotel, Majestic Ballroom, located at 1550 Court Place
in downtown Denver.

Dear Boulder Campus Faculty:

The University of Colorado's Energy & Environmental Security Initiative
(EESI) is launching the first in a series of Colorado Sustainable
Energy Forums on Monday, April 25, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The forums are designed to provide insight into ways that scientific
research, engineering innovations, industry practices and creative
public policy input can be integrated into sustainable energy pathways
that benefit Colorado and the nation. The series will investigate how
the development and deployment of renewables--in combination with new
fossil fuel technologies--can enhance our energy security and become a
catalyst for an environmentally and commercially sustainable future.

On April 25th, Dr. Martin Hoffert, distinguished Professor of Physics
at New York University and a nationally recognized expert on
sustainable energy systems, will inaugurate the series with a
presentation entitled, "Creating a Sustainable Energy Future: Moving
from Theory to Reality." Following this inaugural forum, additional
forums will be offered on such key sustainable energy topics as
transmission, solar power, Amendment 37, carbon capture and
sequestration, polygeneration and nuclear power.

Dr. Stan Bull, NREL's Associate Director for Science and Technology,
will serve as moderator of the inaugural forum. Following Dr.
Hoffert's talk, there will be a reception with beverages and hors
d'oeuvres.

EESI is a university-wide, interdisciplinary research project dedicated
to making the University of Colorado preeminent in the field of
sustainable energy research, development and analysis. EESI is
composed of University of Colorado faculty members that span the
disciplinary spectrum. Additional information on EESI, as well as the
Colorado Sustainable Energy Forum, can be found on our website at:
http://www.colorado.edu/law/eesi. Co-sponsors of the Colorado
Sustainable Energy Forums include the Colorado Energy Research
Institute (CERI), located at the Colorado School of Mines, and the U.S.
Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
