Tutoring

The help room is the place to go (help for free). One trick is to go when lots of other 1110 students are there (near homework due dates): this is a good way to find people who might be interested in forming a study group.

Another trick is to find times when it is quiet so you can get some individual attention from a TA.

You might also talk with your own TA to set up some extra hours, and of course Prof. Pollock and Dubson are happy to meet with you too. (Though perhaps not as extensively as a private tutor could, but always happy to set up some time if you need it). Official office hours work best of course, see the link below for our schedules:

Another option is to contact Student Academic Services (follow the tab to Tutoring, and then find the link to "locating a tutor")

These are often undergraduate volunteer tutors. As far as I know, the service is free.

Beyond this, the physics dep’t doesn't have any list of recommended private tutors, although I sometimes see signs for "tutors for hire" outside the classroom. Caveat Emptor! I recommend you save your money and work with TAs in the help room.
