Physics 1120, General Physics 2: Electricity, Magnetism, and Optics

This solenoid is the heart of a Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) system. It has an inductance of 4.1 H, and it can handle up to 1050 A dc current. How much stored energy is that? Take an interactive tour of a SMES installation.
