Physics 2020, Spring 2000 CAPA info.

 WARNINGS!
  • On true/false questions in CAPA, sometimes the answer format is BCEF, sometimes it is TTFTFF.  If you don't answer with the correct format, CAPA will deduct a try and will NOT warn you that the answer has the wrong format.
  • Be very careful not to accidently place a blank space after a "string answer" such as TTFFT or ACDE.  CAPA will mark the answer incorrect if there is an extra blank space after the answer.

  • If there is a really serious problem with CAPA (internet traffic unusably high, some strange glitch, CAPA won't accept an answer you are sure is correct,...), FIRST try rebooting your computer and try one more time. If you STILL can't get through, you can send in CAPA answers, before the deadline, by regular email to me at Steven.Pollock@colorado.edu . In your email, please specify the question numbers and the answers exactly as you would type them into CAPA. Don't forget to include your name, ID number, and email address, and you must send your answers before the deadline.

(Don't forget to click on the "Phys 2020" button at the top of that window!)

If you are already registered on the system, (if you have ever gotten a CAPA assignment with your name on it, you are!) you can automatically find out your PIN number online anytime:
just follow the "pin-getter" clicks at the bottom of the usual CAPA home page

You will give some information, including a valid email address, and your pin number for this week will be emailed to you within minutes.

Even if you have never gotten a CAPA assignment before, you are probably still registered on CAPA, and the above pin-getter should work fine. Try it. If it fails, you need to send an e-mail message to Prof. Pollock. Be sure to include your full name (first and last) and student number. Specify that you are a Physics 2020 student, what you are missing, and PLEASE give a return e-mail address.

Please do NOT email me about this until *AFTER* the semester has started!! Most students will automatically get registered for CAPA the first day of the semester. If you registered for 2020 after the semester starts, it should take about 24 hours to get into the CAPA system.

CAPA glitch alert: If you get the "Cannot access class directory" message, your internet connection is having trouble. To fix this, exit CAPA, quit your Web Browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) and then reopen the Browser and logon to CAPA again. This should fix the problem.

The lowest CAPA score of the semester will be dropped from your average CAPA score. Late CAPA assignments cannot be accepted because CAPA posts the solutions on the Web, some time shortly after the due deadline.
