WEEK
Dates
Topics Reading for the week.
1
Jan 14-18

1. Intro
2. E field, curly R, and superposition. Intro to continuous charge. (rho, sigma, and lambda)
3. Examples with continuous charge, and intro to Gauss' law

Griffiths Ch 1.1-1.3 should be review, look it over!

Ch 2.1 - 2.2, read these thoroughly. (I think you'll find it is very readable, and well worth your time, even if in the past you've avoided reading your textbooks. Give Griffiths' a serious try!)
2

(Mon=Holiday)

1. (Holiday)
2. More on Gauss' law and delta functions.
3. Gauss' law examples,

Ch. 1.5 (delta functions), 2.3
3
Jan 28-Feb 1

1.More Gauss, Curl of E=0
2. Voltage
3. Calculating V, and connection to energy
