Week 1 (Jan 11-15):

Welcome to Phys 3320, Principles of Electricity and Magnetism II!

Have a look at the course syllabus and start reviewing your E&M I.
That's chapters 1-6 of Griffiths' "Introduction to Electrodynamics", but most important for now are Ch 1 (math), 2 (electrostatics) and 5 (magnetostatics)

Lectures are 9:00am-9:50am, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, in Duane Physics G125.


We will use iclickers in class this term. Please get one, register it (this may have to be redone if you haven't done it recently), and bring it every day, including to the first lecture.

  • Exams: The two midterms will be Thursday evenings, Feb 18 and Apr 7, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. You must be free during these times to take the course. Any exceptions to that policy must be approved by Prof. Hermele, in writing, no later than Fri Jan. 22.

  • Reading: Review Ch 1-6, (especially Ch 2 and 5) We start Chapter 7 after 1 week of review - see the "Calendar" tab

  • Homework: See the "Calendar & Homework" tab! Homework is always due Fridays at start of class. Homework solutions will be posted on our D2L page.
