Principles of Electricity and Magnetism 2 (E&M II)

This is the second semester in our two-semester sequence of junior-level classical electromagnetism courses for physics majors We have compiled a suite of clicker questions, in-class activities, homework problems & other assessments, covering a range of electrodynamics topics, including:

  • Maxwell's time-dependent equations
  • AC circuits
  • Conservation laws
  • EM waves in vacuum and media
  • Potentials and gauge transformations
  • Radiation
  • Special relativity

This website can be navigated using the tabs at the top of each page. Descriptions of the course materials and the organization of this website can be found by going to the Materials Guide tab. The easiest way to "browse" the materials is by following the links embedded in the course calendars for the transformed Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters at CU.

Instructors and education researchers are free to use and adapt these materials for non-commercial purposes, according to the Creative Commons license below. We ask for your cooperation in not making any solutions for the homework (and exam problems, clicker questions, etc…) available on the open web, out of respect for instructors and students at other institutions, and for maintaining the integrity of our research.

How to obtain materials

Materials on this site are organized using the menu above. You can navigate this site as you would a typical webpage to view or download course materials.

If you prefer, you can download the entire course archive in a zip format.
