Your first source of information about the laboratories and lab techniques should be from the references in the lab write ups (Yup, go read them and learn), from the books we have assigned and other books in the lab, from the web, and from your lab instructors.

Previous lab instructors

These people have recently taught the Junior lab. While they may not be expert in your particular question, they have experience with ALL the Junior lab experiments. Each particular experiment has its quirks and peculiarities. If you're stuck and your instructor is not available, try an email to your instructor. If that does not work and/or your instructor is known to be unavailable, an email to one of these former instructors might be helpful.
