Here is information for registering/setting up Mastering physics (first time only!)

We recommend leaving your computer terminal and working out solutions on paper often and regularly! One advantage of Mastering is the instant feedback on how you are doing. Also, you get the opportunity to change wrong answers without penalty. You get multiple tries (typically 6) on each problem, with no points off for wrong answers. If you get it wrong all 6 times, that particular problem is "closed out" but you can still work on others. You can log off and return at any time.

The system sometimes gives hints to problems. In many problems, we will set it so that these do not cost you any points. Work on the problems without using hints first, but use them to help you learn and understand.

Mastering Physics Prelecture videos are due at varying times. You'll find a calendar inside the MP system, and we'll post notes about them on our website. These don't count for too much, but they are going to be a small part of the total MP homework score. The first one is due the first week, Friday at 8 AM. Since you probably don't want to get up in time to turn that in, what that practically means is Thursday evening!

Mastering Physics Homework is due Tuesday evenings. The due date for MP Assignments is 11:59 PM, Tuesday night, but our INTENT is that you finish while there are still staff around in the help room Tuesday afternoon! If you miss the 11:59 PM deadline, there is an automatic no-cost extension until 8am Weds morning. If you miss the second deadline, there are no further extensions. If you have problems, check the Mastering Physics main help page first. We will drop your lowest week's MP score when computing your final grade.
