Week 4 (Sep 15-19): We are in Ch 7 - Faraday's law and Maxwell's equation.
Michael Faraday discovered the basis of electrodynamics - changing magnetic flux creates "curly" electric fields. (Thanks to Logan from 3320 last year, who created the image!)
On the right: the physical laws which govern electrodynamics were later unified (and corrected) by James Clerk Maxwell, the hero of our course, who, alas, did not get a trademark for "Maxwell's Equations". (He also made the first true color photograph and made important contributions to statistical mechanics.)
Announcements:
- Beyond Boulder starts up: (Free pizza, first meeting Monday Sep 15, 5 PM)
- Preflight #3: Due Mon at 10 AM. Password is always 3320 this term
Homework #3 is due Wed, Sep 17 (at start of class) - Reading: See "Lecture notes" tab. (This week is 7.2 and 7.3)
- Visit our piazza page and ask a question. Or answer someone else's for a little extra credit!
(We also have a D2L page where I post solutions, and occasionally update individual grade information)
