Week 10 (Oct 24-29):
This week - Sketching, time dependence, Free particles, momentum space (leading up to the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle.)
Announcements:
- From the Physics office: "Just a reminder that the deadline for students to drop a class in myCUinfo without petitioning their dean is Friday, October 28."
- Here is the trippy "Measure x for a particle in a well" sim I showed in class. Other relevant sims can be found at the PhET page (look for "bound states" and coming soon, "tunneling" sims) and also Saint Andrews' quantum measurement sim (with many more quantum sims in their collection here!)
- I showed you some Mathematica solutions to "particle in a well". See the Mathematica information page (also available from our links tab above) (This is basically McIntyre section 5.10.2, which we are not going to test you on, but is fun and interesting!)
- Exam #2 is coming up next week. It's on a Wed, not a Thursday! See our exam information link for more details... (And, our learning goals page has content topics that will be featured) Here is a draft of my crib sheet for exam2, (Let me know if you spot a typo, or something missing you think I should add!)
- Homework #9 - due Friday, Oct 29
- For help, CONTACT SJP or Gabriel (our LA) or Allie (our grader) (or visit our piazza page and ask a question!)
- Tutorial is always Friday after class - everyone is welcome!
Other notes outside of class: - If you are eligible to vote in Colorado and have not yet registered, visit the Colorado voter registration page. If you are not a Colorado resident but want to vote in your home state by mail, check out the CU Voter information page for help.
- "Beyond Bolder": Oct 24 and Nov 28.
