Week 12 (Nov 7-Nov 11):

                                  fourier
The above is no cartoon or simulation, but a remarkable scanning tunneling microscope image of a quantum corral (those bumps are individual iron atoms on a copper substrate, "corralled" by an IBM engineering team. The waves forming in the middle are visible indications of the quantum wave nature of the atomic surface of this solid crystal!

This week: Tunneling, and then starting Chapter 7, angular momentum in quantum mechanics.
