Week 12 (Nov 7-Nov 11):
The above is no cartoon or simulation, but a remarkable scanning tunneling microscope image of a quantum corral (those bumps are individual iron atoms on a copper substrate, "corralled" by an IBM engineering team. The waves forming in the middle are visible indications of the quantum wave nature of the atomic surface of this solid crystal!
This week: Tunneling, and then starting Chapter 7, angular momentum in quantum mechanics.

The average was 75% (about 10 points lower than the first midterm.)
I'll hand exams back Monday. Solutions to the exam are posted on D2L. - Preflight for next week available over the weekend, as usual. Note that piazza is no longer required.
