Week 14 (Nov 24-Nov 28) Enjoy your break. We'll start Relativity (Ch 12) upon our return Read 12.1.1-4 over the break. (The last section, 12.1.4, will be new - the rest should be review of 2170). See also the 2170 review powerpoints below!

Einstein

After the break, we'll continue our study of special relativity. Note that all our old course pages are available at the bottom of this page! (Above, Einstein is demonstrating a non-inertial frame!)

Announcements:

  • An undergraduate (Elias Euler) is doing an undergrad research project in PER - if you would like to spend an hour interviewing with him (for $25) contact eleu1908 at colorado.edu (Note that this has nothing to do with me or our course, but please feel free to volunteer if you have time for him!)
  • Next preflight, #13 on Relativity notes is due Monday @10 right after we return)
  • HW12 will be due Wed Dec 3, right after the break.
  • Reading: 12.1.1-4. Also, please check out these 2170-level "relativity review" powerpoints. If you take it seriously, maybe 30-60 minutes of effort. I won't be repeating all this stuff in class, it's "assumed background". I think it is very helpful!!
  • Visit our piazza page and ask a question. Or answer someone else's for a little extra credit!
  • Coming up: FCQ's for this class will go online on Nov 29. You will get an email - if you do NOT get a request, check your spam folder (email comes from FCQ.Office@colorado.edu) If you can't find it, please go to https://fcq.colorado.edu/ucb_fcq.htm and follow the directions there to submit your online FCQ. (But, not until after the 29th)
